The government claims there is a manpower shortage, but where are the recruitment drives for Singaporeans? Where are the hiring campaigns to ensure these stable, well-compensated jobs go to locals first? Instead of prioritizing Singaporeans, the government is quietly filling security forces with foreign hires.
Social worker Alan Ng Bao Zheng from the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has taken bold action, launching an online petition calling for rehabilitated inmates to be given the opportunity to serve as Auxiliary Police Officers (APOs).
These ex-offenders have found religion, turned their lives around, and aspire to become police officers or legal professionals. They are eager to reintegrate into society, yet they are ignored and sidelined—while the government continues to prioritize foreigners for these critical security roles.
This is a slap in the face to every hardworking Singaporean. Instead of allowing our own people—those who have served National Service (NS), those who have families here, those who are loyal to this nation—to take on these roles, the government is handing them over to foreigners who have no deep ties to our country.
